Dead Space was announced at E3 2012 on June 4, 2012, it is the sequel to Dead Space 2 and will be the third main entry of the Dead Space series. Primarily set on a frozen planet called Tau Volantis, the game will follow protagonists Isaac Clarke and Sergeant John Carver as they attempt to stop the Necromorph scourge for good.

Dead Space 3 wallpapers shows images from the game where Isaac is back and having crash-landed on a frozen planet known as Tau Volantis. Isaac Clarke hopes that this hostile new environment contains the key to ending the Necromorph scourge. Drop-in/drop-out co-op was announced at EA’s E3 2012 press conference, stating that this will unlock “additional story details and gameplay mechanics only found when playing as the co-op character, EarthGov Sergeant John Carver.”
A Visceral Games developer has confirmed it was “always intended to have co-op in Dead Space” and cites that one of their inspirations and role models, System Shock 2, also had co-op support. He also pointed out that if the player chooses to play alone, John Carver “may appear at some points (as do other NPCs) but for the most part he is not there.”
In Dead Space 3 player characters Isaac Clarke and John Carver will be able to roll and take cover to avoid attacks. The new ability to dodge was described by a Visceral Games developer as essential, as it “felt dumb/terrible not to have it” and that they have been “making Isaac more responsive,” as they “want the horror to come from the terrible things that happen in the game; not from the horror that something is moving slowly towards you and you can’t shoot it because the game controls like a piece of crap.” The cover system is also described as ‘organic’ in nature, as the player does not need to “walk up to certain tagged things and press the cover button; Isaac or Carver just does the action that is appropriate for the given situation.”

Dead Space 3 has Isaac Clarke and Ellie Langford (from Dead Space 2) located on an ice planet to seek the origins of the mysterious “Markers,” which have been the source of the Necromorph infections.
During their descent planetside, their vessel becomes distressed and eventually crashes. It is during this landing incident that Isaac and Ellie are separated, and where the player, who takes control of Isaac, will be introduced to another survivor known as John Carver. Carver plays an important role in the Dead Space 3 because the game introduces a drop-in, drop-out Co-op gameplay experience where the secondary player takes control of John Carver.
Although Isaac encounters taller versions of Dead Space 2′s childlike Pack Enemies, Necromorphs aren’t the only enemy Isaac fights on his venture. For the first time in the franchise, he’ll fight human beings, perhaps soldiers who have turned agains’t you for resourcces and supplies. These soldiers consist of heavily armored suits, pack guns, and grenades that will be thrown and fired towards you. Of course, these guys can become Necromorphs as well.
As he makes his way through open, icy areas, steel walls sometimes form around Isaac, and enemies attack from various angles. A spinning drill, similar to a lethal top, may also make its way onto the playing field, dismembering players to pieces if they come in contact with the always-moving object.
One of the more spectacular encounters features Isaac shooting a spider-like creature in its orange-tinted weak spot, as well as shooting arms and protruding sacs. The creature will eat Isaac whole if he gets too close, so he’s forced to run around the arena and attack from a distance. It may also make multiple appearances — it disappears into a cavern once it’s taken enough of a beating.
